VAPG Success Stories
The Southern Risk Management Education Center seeks to empower producers to manage marketing and price risks, which includes promoting the Value Added Producer Grant (VAPG) program. The VAPG program helps farmers and ranchers understand, develop, and implement diversification strategies to enhance their business' products. To learn more about resources and assistance available with USDA's VAPG program visit the Agricultural Marketing Resource Center (AgMRC) https://www.agmrc.org/. The mission of AgMRC is to provide independent producers and processors with critical information needed to build successful value-added agricultural enterprises through its electronic resource information website. Resources and events provided through the efforts site are intended to support independent producers and processors submissions to the VAPG program. AgMRC strives to serve the national value-added agriculture audience through its web platform and collaborations with land-grant universities and other technical assistance providers across the country.
The VAPG program is sponsored by the United States Department of Agriculture Rural Development (VAPG Program) and administered by the Rural Business-Cooperative Service. The competitive grant program provides funding to farmers and groups of farmers to create or develop value-added producer-owned businesses.
